Keiko Fujise
Keiko Fujise arrived in Whitehorse in July 2013 and soon after joined the music scene in the city. She is concertmaster of the Whitehorse String Ensemble and assistant concertmaster of the new Whitehorse Symphony Orchestra. Playing the violin since the age of 6, Keiko joined a youth orchestra in Japan when she was 12 and continued playing in orchestras after moving to Canada at age 18. She has played in various orchestras across Canada, including the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra and the Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra. Keiko studied developmental psychology in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and hopes to combine her passion for music and child development into violin teaching. Bryn Knight
Bryn Knight has been involved in the Whitehorse Suzuki violin community since she began violin lessons as a pre-schooler. After growing up in music studios, the Yukon Arts Centre, and other music camp venues, not to mention her music room at home, Bryn began mentoring violin students in her early teens and is now a registered Suzuki violin teacher for Books 1 and 2. Bryn's pedagogical philosophy is based on creativity, respect, humour, patience, and recognition of the uniqueness of each student.
